Dear Friend or Member of the International Society of Cryosurgery,

Just few words to keep you updated with the last events concerning our Society.

I was reappointed at the head of ISC by the BoD during the works of the 14th WCC in Beijing. The WCC was the highlight of my tenure as President and the key event of the past year activities. It was an outstanding success due also to the support of the Local Committee’s representatives - dr. Huasong Feng and dr.Yunyou Duan of the Navy General Hospital of Beijing whom I am giving my deeply felt thanks - the trust conferred to us by all the sponsors, the exceptional turn up of participants and the hard and unrelenting work of the Secretarial Staff.

Not to rest on the laurel I wish to point out this latter event was not the end but just a milestone in our path toward giving more visibility and worldwide recognition to our Society. I cannot help but remembering and thanking all the people that in the last 40 and more years have devoted all their lives in the field of Cryosurgery. They have left us an important legacy we have the duty to bring forward. 

It is my firm intention to continue the task of consolidating and expanding the Society and the number of members, trying in the process to involve each and everyone of you in our activities and make them all the more alluring to you. It will be my care with the help of selected Members to offer to the Scientific Community suggestions and recommendations on the proper use of Cryosurgery in its different fields of application. 

To this last aspect it was agreed to organize - with the help of the Regional Advisors – events focused each time on single issues. You will receive notice of the planned events as they will be agreed.

Our website will be constantly kept updated and it is at the top of my agenda to make it a place where knowledge and expertise can be shared among all the Members, helping cryosurgeons to set up a network where mutual cooperation and shared research can be promoted.

Another ambitious goal ISC has given itself to achieve is to at least equate if not improve on the 14th WCC with the 15th WCC which is to be held in Saint Petersburg in July 2009. Professor G. Prokhorof’s bid to be in charge of the event was voted and entrusted as President of the 15th WCC.

It is from the deep of my heart I wish him, the BoD and all the Members of the Society a prosperous period of professional growth and a satisfying future.
